Summer fun

Well, I guess it's time to update the blog. I've really been slacking lately! We all love summer here in the McEwan house. Lazy mornings and some days we don't even get dressed. It's the best. Too bad school is starting in just a couple more weeks!! Yuck, I'm not looking forward to homework and early morning. Did I mention all my kids are late sleepers and I've enjoyed sleeping past 10 am almost every morning since summer began? Yep, that right, 10 am....sometimes even later.

Okay, so we started summer with a fun trip to St. George to visit with John sister. We stayed a few days and had lots of fun. We went to a fun water park, where Aidan learned how to aim and direct the water source right at me!!! Man he was good at it. Luckily it was soooo hot and it felt really good. All of us eventually ended up in the water and had fun trying to get all the kids soaked. We also visited he Washington County museum, which was FREE, yeah, and actually really fun. It had some of the coolest things and some of he best displays I've seen at any local mueum. It was really cool teaching Kinzie a little more about history, which I love, and she's showing an interest in. Other than that we mostly stayed at their house and played. We learned how fun Rock Band was and as soon as we got home we went and got Guitar Hero, world tour. The kids have been loving it and we've formed a little family band. Kinz rocks at the guitar!! Of course Andi loves to sing and often takes the mic away from anyone who happens to be using it. Did I mention she's spoiled?

I swear I thought summer weather would never get here!! It rained most of June. We tried hitting the air show at hill airfoce base and it POURED rain and soaked all of us, except the baby who was snug in his stroller all covered up. It also happened to be during the best show of the day. We did manage to watch it after all. We walked back to the car to leave and ended up watching it from there after the weather cleared up.
The next weekend we headed to Lagoon for a company party. I'd learned my lesson by then and packed everyone their own umbrella and a plastic cover for the stroller. Good thing too, since it POURED!! We ended up standing under an awning and waiting it out. It turned out to be a fun day after all after he weather calmed. It was still wet,but not too bad. Aidan took his first ride on an upside down roller coaster!! He had a blast.

We hit the 4t of july parade in Provo and it was fun except for the rain. It rained off and on, and then finally cleared up and became hot!!! The kids had fun and I guess that's what really counts, right?

We visited St. George again in the middle of July. John's step-mom was there with the whole family from Pheonix and we wanted to say hi. This time it was REALLY HOT!! We mostly staying indoors, except for a crazy trip to the water park, which we realized wasn't such a great plan since all the kids were burning their feet and were really flushed. So we went home.

Andi's b-day was July 22nd. She cried when we sang to her. It was too cute. We went to the zoo to celebrate and had a blast, this time it didn't rain, but was extremely hot. My whole family went and we all had fun. I had too much fun decorating her little cake and it actually turned out kind of cute. Yay, me.

Kinzie celebrated her b-day at my dad's cabin. We were camping for a fam reunion and it happened to fall on her b-day. I tried to make it a special day by decorating the cabin and we brought a cake and her presents. I also made her wear a princess tiara so everyone would know it was a special day for her. I think I suceeded in making her day fun. Another little party with some friends is planned for this friday. Camping was fun all in all, but Andi was definitely done when it was time to leave. She was soooo tired and cranky. She is my little sleeper and definitely didn't get enough sleep. When we got home we put her down for a nap at 3 pm and she slept the whole night through until 10:30 the next morning!!! We also played some interesting games of tetherball.....Note interesting. It was hilarious. I still don't know how you beat me Court, you did suck. I guess not quite as much as me though.=) John knocked her on her butt though, so payback baby!!

I've spent the last couple days trying to recuperate and do laundry, my never ending chore. My b-day was yesterday and my hubby sent me some pretty flowers. He took me to dinner and when I got back the kids had decorated the house for me. It was really sweet. Don't I have the best kids ever?!!? That's all for now. We are all getting ready for back to school time. It's always a crazy excited time for the kids.

All about Bryce

This post is all about my new baby boy. He is such a sweetie. He's loved to death here at the house between all the kids and dad and mom. He is such a good baby. He sleeps so well at night. About 5 hours between feedings. The only thing is he'll sometimes stay awake for 45 min. or so after eating. I'm trying to get him to break that habit. He loves to be held and cuddled which makes him a little fussy sometimes when I try to lay him down if he's not in a deep enough sleep. He does have a little bit of fussiness after eating. I hate it and don't know what to do for him. We've tried about every formula under the sun and he's on the Mylicon drops. He's still a tiny little monkey. I put on a 0-3 mo outfit for pictures and he was drowning in it! He is constanty losing his arms inside his jammies because they are so big on him. He's got dark brown almost black hair. At least for the time being. And he definitely looks like one of my kids. I can't really tell who he really looks like yet, but he definitely has the McEwan kids look. He really is a sweetheart. I can't believe he's going to be 3 weeks old already!
We gave him his first bath in the baby tub on Sunday. We set it all up on the kitchen counter so the kids could watch. They all loved it and wanted a turn washing him. Of course I let them do it even though he was already washed up. He didn't even cry! He just laid there and enjoyed it. I thought he'd actually fall asleep in the tub. What a cutie.

That's all on my new baby boy. He doesn't do too much yet!=) We all love him and are so happy he's here.

Bryce Gordon is here!!

Hello everyone!! Brycie boy is here!!! And so totally adorably precious and gorgeous! What a sweetheart. I find the more babies I have the more I really appreciate them. They are the sweetest little things. Mostly because they can't talk back or fight with the others!=) They also have a sweet way of bringing the family closer as everyone gets used to them and wants to love them.
He was born May 8th at 2:59 pm. He weighed 6lbs 7 oz and was 17 inches. Although at his week check up he was 19, so maybe someone missed something. I guess they don't stretch them out as much as the doctor.
Here's the labor and delivery story....I went in for an amnio to make sure his lungs were all done at about 37 1/2 weeks, they'd been watching me for about 9 weeks due to low fluid. They didn't even do the amnio since the fluid was so low and he just sent me over to the hospital. They induced me and 3 hours later our little man was here. I have to say the worst part was getting the epidural since I had it done so quickly I didn't feel many contractions. They did have to do it 3 times though!!! AAAHHH!!! I forget how much it hurts to get...but much better I'm sure than delivering the little guy without it.
He's loved to pieces. Andi always wants to hold him and love him and doesn't like anyone we don't know to hold him. She got very upset when one of the nurses took him to the nursery for his first bath. She was a little pill the first 4 days home or so. Luckily we are getting through it and she's getting back to normal. Which isn't to say she is always a little angel.=) Terrible two's and all that.
5 days later I went back into the hospital and had my gallbladder taken out. I'm pretty sure this was the worst part of the whole thing. I was feeling great after delivery and then the surgery messed it all up. It's takes about a week and a half to feel better. Maybe not completely back to normal but better.
Luckily for me I have the best hubby ever. He's been home with me almost the whole two weeks since Bryce was born and has really helped me to feel better. I don't know what it'll be like when he goes back to work.=(
Bryce is a good little sleeper at night, but I have a hard time getting him to stay asleep during the day. He likes to be held. Sounds just like my Aidan used to be.
We had family pics done last night and I will post some when they come in.

Ian turned 5!!!!

Ian had a birthday on the 16th and is now 5 years old. We've been dreading this because of his booster shots. He's been talking and crying about them for six months. I took him in and though it won't be near as bad as he's expecting. My other kids didn't even make a peep. Well, I should've know better. This is Ian after all. He screamed!! I'm talking loud wailing high pitched screaming. It was really tramatic, FOR ME! I think he did permenant damage to my ear drums! Once it was all over he acted as if his legs were going to fall off or need to be amputated. Can anyone say, high drama? He complained for hours after. Seriously, I should have known better, last time he had a paper cut he carried on so much I literally thought it was bad enough to need stitches. (John was dealing with it and I hadn't seen it yet). So he had shots at one of my appointments so I though he would have fun at the kindergarten fair at the doctor's office and just have his check up. Little did I know they would have to prick his finger!! Let's just say it was another screaming fit. I am so glad that's all over and let us all pray that he never encounters any real trauma!

For his birthday we went to the Myan to celebrate with my family. I wasn't in the mood for a full blown birthday party. Of course we had to have an Indian Jones cake, and I was shocked to actually find one. It was pretty cool. So he had on all his Indy clothes and off we went. Court gave him a cowboy costume and the kid wanted to stop and the bathroom to change into it. We convinced him to wait until we made it home and can you guess the first thing he did. He did look cute though.

We also finally made it up sledding! Yeah. I bought some snow pants I thought would fit over my huge belly, but they didn't quite make it. So I wore them anyway, undone. It was not fun. They kept falling off and I was constantly pulling them up. I also forgot how yucky it is to climb in the snow. With my big fat prego butt I was really just not loving it. So I finally made it up to where we were sledding and decided to just stand there and take pictures. I thought Ian would have grown out of his sledding issues, but little did I know. Nothing ever runs smoothly in my family, why would I think it would change now? He used to cry the whole time we went sledding. This was a couple of years ago when he was about 2. I thought he'd be better. But all he did was complain about the snow in his coat. He went down on the sled once and complained about the snow in his face! Finally we just ignored him and he ended up just sitting in the snow and making snow angels. Although he did like the fact the snow was so deep it was almost up to his waist. Of course our actual baby did great. She loved being outside and John just pulled her along on the sled. She didn't really love going down the hill, but had fun in the snow anyway. And what a cute little snow bunny she made.
